Food - Shopping and Eating

I love grocery stores. They are full of possibilities, you walk it the front door and there is a varied selection of vegetables staring you in the face. I love to think about food and what I am going to buy when I go shopping for food. I love picking out groceries and finding where what I need is located. If I could I would spend a lot more on trips to the grocery store, but I don’t have a car and therefore can only buy what I can carry. I miss filling up shopping carts, and I hate having to restrict myself to one basket full. It’s a strange thought to have when you see something that you think you could use, but wonder how heavy it is because you still have to carry your groceries home. Sometimes I dream about having a fully stocked kitchen in which I can look up a recipe and know that I have the ingredients, instead I have to plan ahead and make a special trip. Now if only I was a better cook.
Alright, alright, I can cook. I’m not the best cook, but I can follow a recipe pretty good. Ok sometimes I fail miserably at the things I try to cook, but that is usually when I get experimental. I do have a few things that I can cook really well, and I do actually enjoy cooking. Well, I really enjoy eating. If I could hire a cook to make me amazing dinners every day I think that I would enjoy that a lot, and get really fat.
I think that my love of food is the reason that I want to learn to cook better. I have started to try to cook better, and a big help so far has been Jamie Oliver. His cooking shows make me excited to cook, and his cookbooks are easy to follow and, man, they have excellent recipes in them. I have four of Jamie Oliver’s cookbooks and I have learned to cook at least one thing out of each of them really well. For any beginning cooks I recommend Jamie Oliver’s books because they explain things that most cookbook authors just assume that everyone knows, and let me tell you I did not know some of these things before I started to cook. Jamie’s books have really made me enjoy cooking, and also be really proud of the things that I can now cook.
I have come up with a few things on my own, and one of my favourite things to make for lunch is a bagel sandwich. First thing that you do is toast the bagel in the frying pan, and then you fry some bacon until it is crispy, and then you fry an egg in the grease. You put the egg, bacon, a slice of Swiss cheese, and some mayonnaise on the bagel cut it down the middle and there you go! It is such a good sandwich, and really easy to do.
Here is a link to Jamie Oliver’s website where you can find a lot of really great recipes and tips to help you become a better a cook!
